After winning America’s Got Talent in season 13, the Canadian-American magician Shin Lim returned to America’s Got Talent’s spin-off show known as AGT: The Champions to win again and officially become “the best act in the world.” AGT, for the champions, is a show that consists of some winners and finalists from previous America’s Got Talent seasons and some other international got talent shows.  In this new spin-off show, Terry Crews replaces Tyra Banks as the new AGT host, and instead of having the public vote to find the winner, NBC stated that they selected groups known as the “super fans” that “represent the entire country from all 50 states” to select the winner.

The 27-year-old magician became the first act to ever win the AGT Champions show and became the second magician to win America’s Got Talent, making Lim the only contestant to win AGT two consecutive seasons. Winning the title of “the best act of the world,” Lim beat 14-year-old ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer, who won season 12 of America’s Got Talent.  In a statement to People Magazine, Lim said, “It’s crazy, to be honest. I still have to pinch myself. First winning AGT was crazy to me, but winning champions was even crazier.” For Lim, this was just the beginning to a great 2019. After winning, he had a talk interview with Ellen DeGeneres and announced that he will be touring starting in June. Later this year, he plans to marry his fiance, Casey Thomas.
