One of the best baseball players in Major League Baseball, Mike Trout, has signed a 12-year extension with the Los Angeles Angles, worth 426.6 million dollars. Trout will be making roughly 36 million dollars annually. Playing in the MLB for only 7 years, the 27-year-old from Millville, New Jersey has gained a high reputation for himself including being the 2012 American League Rookie of the year, a two time American League MVP, a seven-time all-star, a two time all-star game MVP recipient, and a six-time Silver Slugger award winner. Since being drafted in the first round of the 2009 MLB draft, the young center fielder has garnered many accomplishments that many players won’t have made in their lifetime. It’s no surprise that many expect Trout to one day be an inductee into the MLB’s Hall of Fame.

With this 12-year extension, Mike Trout will be an Angel until through the 2030 season. At that time Mike Trout will be 39 years old and will most likely still be in an Angels uniform once he retires. With the new contract extension, Trout now holds the record for the biggest contract in MLB as well as professional sports history. The second largest contract goes to Canelo Alvarez who signed a 5-year deal worth 365 million dollars from DAZN, a sports streaming company.

Mike Trout is the definition of loyalty, instead of leaving the Angels to go to a team with a better chance at winning a World Series Title, Trout decided to stay with the team that drafted him in hopes of bringing a World Series trophy back to Anaheim, California.
