On Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Redondo Union High school, Miss Camryn Woods (11) was awarded four medals in the following categories: 100- meter dash, 4×100 meter relay, smr, and long jump.

After hearing of this accomplishment, I found it appropriate to hear from her on this topic and ask her questions regarding the building of her success.

What feeling went through your mind when you won four medals for the track?

“I felt very proud because the last 2 years, I did not get a full track season, and with that, I lost a lot of my speed and motivation to run, and now that I finally won these metals, I have gotten back my confidence and motivation. With this newfound motivation, I am now determined to keep running faster and faster.”

In achieving this honor, what milestones(obstacles) did you have to take?

“With achieving this honor, I had to adjust to my schedule of managing two other teams I had to make some sacrifices to other get practices or miss a competition. Because of the year loss of training, I really started to train since the summer and now every day since the season.”

Who or what inspired you to continue running track and field?

“My inspiration to run track came from myself. With this newfound inspiration, I received support from my family and friends. I have always enjoyed playing sports and being involved with school activities and teams and will continue to do as such until my senior year and beyond.”

Do you plan on taking track and field at the college level?

“Yes, it is an option I a keeping in mind. I hope that I can receive a scholarship. I have already received emails from potential colleges that want to recruit me in their program, but have not found the right college for me nor have I found the right school that has the best law program, which is what I want to major in. Although I do not plan on pursuing track and field as a profession, it will always be a part of my life and I will continue to keep sprinting  towards what life has in store for me.”

After interviewing Camryn Woods(11), there is much to be learned from this well-accomplished Santiago student-athlete. We should all strive to accomplish anything that we put our minds to. To always be a go-getter. Never let setbacks determine our future. To always look forward and to never look back is exactly what Camryn Woods(11) exemplifies. She has always been the type of person who always pushed herself to be the best person she can be. Has never left any crumbs on the floor. Camryn(11) is always been thrown obstacles at her, but she has never let that stop her from achieving the goals that she has set out to accomplish. With the proper love and support from your family and friends, nothing is impossible. Camryn Woods(11) truly does embody what it means to be a shark and a true leader.
