November 15th, 2025. On this day, a mass shooting was reported in Newark, New Jersey. The shooting had led to two deaths, one being a 10-year-old boy and a 21-year-old woman.
What Happened Saturday, November 15, 2025?
At around 7 pm Saturday, residents of Newark (300 block of Chancellor Avenue) heard a series of gunfire shots. This area of the shooting is mainly residential, with reportedly many “single-family” homes.
A nearby resident of where this shooting occurred reported hearing “ a lot of screaming.” In contrast, another woman noted, “It was a lot. More than six.” This woman wanted to remain anonymous.
WABC reported, “The gunman opened fire on the 300 block of Chancellor Avenue, unleashing a spray of bullets, with at least 17 evidence markers seen at the scene on Sunday morning.” This illustrates the cruelty of the scene as reported across different accounts, the number of shots, and the aggressive nature of the scene, which left 17 noticeable marks of evidence, indicating that the circumstances were inhumane.
This scene was then investigated by cops and plainclothes detectives the next morning, using flashlights to gather evidence. They were then seen examining a jacket-like object on the ground as they appeared to study the area around the slime closely.
This mass shooting resulted in the death of a 10-year-old boy and a 21-year-old woman, and three other victims were severely injured (an 11-year-old boy, a 19-year-old boy, and a 60-year-old man), but these three victims were quickly stabilized as they received medical attention.
Unfortunately, this mass shooting was not the only fatality in Newark, New Jersey, that same day. In the same city, a two-year-old passed away from falling from a 20th-story window at an apartment building. This ultimately made the day a tragedy for the area’s residents.
Authorities Responses? Suspects?
The identity of the shooter has yet to be discovered, and authorities are doing everything they can to find out the identity themselves or get the culprit to come forward and identify themselves.
During a press conference regarding this unfortunate fatality on Monday, Essex County Sheriff Amir Jones stated, “What you did was cowardly, heartless, and unforgivable. You prove nothing but your own weakness,” followed by, “We are coming, there is no hiding, there is no running. No corner of this county will keep you hidden. Turn yourselves in before we come knocking on your door.”
This day, Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka also stated, regarding the one who committed this crime, “The best thing for them to do is turn themselves in immediately. The entire community is on alert. There is nothing that you can say or do that would justify a 10-year-old losing his life. The community is on alert and on lookout, and we’ll make sure that justice is done in this community.”
Baraka also said, “We will not rest until there is justice for the parents and family left behind in unspeakable pain and grief. Newark will work tirelessly with the prosecutor’s office, state law enforcement, and federal agencies to ensure justice is served,” as well as, “Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this trauma. Our prayers are with them — and our actions will support them.” The mayor not only says this on behalf of the shooting, but also the 2-year-old who also lost their life that day.
As of now, authorities are still on the search for the culprit of this crime, and “The Essex County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.”
