Jan. 13, 2014 an email was sent to residents of Corona regarding the new construction of Foothill Parkway. The project is going to connect Green River Road and Skyline Drive in an effort to reduce traffic in that area. The idea was first proposed in 1985 when it was put into Corona’s general plan.
“The road is going to have several nice features too. It’s really going to be a big effect for the city of Corona; its going to have two lanes in each direction it will have a multipurpose trail that can accommodate bikers, hikers and equestrians,” Nelson Nelson, public works assistant director, commented.
Monique Billings (12) commented, “ When I heard, I was really excited because the traffic over there gets pretty intense; I just really hope that it doesn’t take long to build because that would get pretty frustrating.”
The construction is expected to start May 2014; the construction is estimated to take about 17 months to complete. During the construction there shouldn’t be any disturbances to traffic because the road is not in use. The road will also give people easier access to Cleveland National Park.
