After winning last year’s game, the Hollywood Knights are coming back into shark-infested waters to verse the Santiago staff in an epic basketball game.
“We had a great attendance last year,” said Assistant Principal and Activities Director Petria Gonzales, “But I want to make sure those who didn’t get to go last year can go this year.”
Gonzales foresaw the planning of last year’s event and coordinated with Megan Wilkinson, former Senior President (2012-13), and Matthew Dos Santos, former Senior Vice President (2012-13). Wilkinson and Dos Santos put in a great deal of work to publicize the event throughout the Corona community, as well as getting an article into the local newspaper.
This year’s Senior President, Alyssa Salazar, and Vice President, Karina Nepomuceno(12), decided to invite the Knight’s back to the court for a rematch.
“I’m really excited about it, it was one of my favorite events from last year that we did so I’m honored to be planning it this year and hope to improve it from last year,” said Salazar.
“It’s a great event,” said Nepomuceno, “Students came from all over the school and the staff really got involved.”
Even this year the Santiago staff is undoubtedly excited for this year’s game. This year’s staff lineup is:
Rob Alexander
Eric Blankenbeker (Security)
Seth Bond (AP)
John Brandom (PE)

The celebrity lineup is still unknown, but Gonzales confirmed that Tyler Hoechlin, one of the many stars on “Teen Wolf,” will be at the game. Hoechlin is an alumnus of Santiago and played in last year’s game with the Hollywood Knights.
“It’s a special event and we don’t want people getting bored of it, so we won’t be hosting it next year. Instead, we will hold a different event in place of it,” commented Gonzales.
Tickets go on sale March 3: 8$ with ASB, 10$ without ASB (and at the door), and 25$ for courtside seats. The event will be held on the night of Saturday, March 15, and Sharks are encouraged to come cheer on Santiago’s teachers, custodians, security, and office staff.
