Jazz Band Connects with the Community

Jazz+Band+Connects+with+the+Community

Feb. 22, 2014 Wells Fargo opened a new location on Foothill in Corona. Santiago’s mixed jazz band had the honor of preforming for the grand opening. Jazz band played “Girl from Ipanema” and several other songs for city officials, Wells Fargo management, the Mayor, and citizens. After jazz band entertained the crowd, Wells Fargo bank provided a $1000 check toward Santiago jazz band.

“My favorite thing about being in jazz band is that we do an art form that isn’t very recognized in high school’s a lot anymore,” said trombone player Meagan Dudek (12). “It’s an overlooked skill to play jazz and, once you get good at it, it’s like speaking another language.”

Santiago’s jazz band helped create a successful grand opening event for Wells Fargo and the surrounding community.
