Santiago’s second school wide writing day of the school year took place March 3, 2014. Throughout all periods, students were required to write a six-step essay based on the given topic. Santiago’s essay day focused on an important writing skill for the 2014 year: argumentative writing.
“I think the main purpose of essay day is to help us students evaluate the purpose of writing in all classes. Dedicating one full day to Language Arts will help us learn the purpose of writing and learn new writing forms,” said student Briana Serrato (9).
The purpose of this day is to encourage students to focus on improving their writing skills through articles, videos, and pictures. The writing packet displayed different techniques, which helped each student to grasp the concept.
School Wide Writing Day is expected to have a successful outcome according to past scores. Writing skills are necessary to thrive in high school and beyond.
