September 4th 2016, 16,000 crazed girls lined up to see the biggest Australian band today: Five Seconds of Summer (5SOS). This band formed when the boys were merely teens. The stadium begins to fill with adrenaline and excitement as the long day of waiting and anticipation was just now beginning.

The first opening band hitting the stage is home grown to California: Roy English.  He opens the concert with his impressive vocals and enthusiastic personality. The next band opening for 5SOS was Hey Violet. Hey Violet has been the opening act for 5SOS for roughly two years. They had a great stage presence and are known for being unique since they have three girls and only one boy in the band.

Now the very long awaited moment was upon the crowd, 5 Seconds of Summer has finally stepped on stage. From the very start of the night, Ashton Irwin, the band’s drummer put his heart into every single song they played. Calum Hood, 5SOS’s bassists was right alongside Ashton when playing. Calum was making sure, the entire time, that the audience was amped and could feel every single emotion he was putting into the cords. The band’s seemingly simple but deep lyrics and strong connection with the audience made everyone emotional.

Luke Hemmings, known for his powerful vocals and skills on the guitar, did not disappoint the anxious crowd. He and his fellow band mate Michael showed their real skills by shredding during their cover song “What I Like About You”.  Then Michael Clifford showed the real talent he possesses by showing his vocal range during the song “Wrapped Around Your Finger”. The song is a song that the band very rarely plays at concerts.

The night was sadly coming to an end and 5SOS was saying their farewells and “thank yous” to the fans that support them to the moon and back. As one of the final concerts at the Irvine Amphitheater came to an end, everyone left with a concert experience that they will never forget; Including me. 5SOS is definitely a band to experience live, and worth every penny to get to that very moment.
