NFL playoff predictions

Christian Moore, Sports Editor

We are now at the point were teams need to punch in their tickets to make the playoffs. Here are the teams that I think will make the playoffs easily.

AFC

1.New England Patriots(8-2) since Brady’s return at quarterback the patriots have been unstoppable.  Tight end Gronkowski has played well since returning from his injury.  Once again like every year the Patriots are not only a guaranteed playoff team but they are also a super bowl contender.

2.Oakland Raiders(8-2) man the raiders are looking outstanding.Quarterback Derek Carr has found a nice rhythm and looks to keep it moving.  Wide receiver Ameri Cooper is also play well along with veteran Micheal Crabtree.  On defense Khali Mack is just tremdous.  They will defenitly make the playoffs and could go as far as the AFC championship game.

3.Kansas city Cheifs(7-3) the cheifs are having a solid year. Lead by their veteran quarterback Alex Smith they could have a successful postseason.Running back Jamal Charles needs to remain healthy and durable in order to be successful on offense.

4.Denver Broncos(7-3) now I think the main reason why the broncos have a winning record is because of their defense.  Super bowl 50 MVP Von miller and among the best defensive players in the NFL.And don’t forget about cornerback Aqib Talib shutting down the top receivers in the NFL.  The Broncos have a top receiver of their own in Demaryius Thomas.  I believe their defense alone can get them far.

5.Miami Dolphins(6-4) the Dolphins look good and should make the playoffs.  They just got to keep it up and not fall off track.  Quarterback Ryan Tannahill looks good and steady.  This will be one big step in his career to be great.Defensive lineman Ndonmong Suh is also ready.

6.Pittsburgh Steelers(6-5) the Steelers look really good on offense.  Quarterback Ben Rolthlisburger is having a great season as a wide receiver Antonio Brown and running back Levon Bell.  Their offensive threats alone can take them far.

NFC

1.Dallas Cowboys(10-1) wow who would have thought that the Cowboys would be a 10 and 1 football team lead by a rookie quarterback in Dax Prescot.  And also rookie running back Ezezeial Elliot.  Man these two players are not only contenders for rookie of the year but also maybe the MVP for the season.  If Prescott keeps playing like this they may soon forget about Tony Romo.

2.New York Giants(7-3) the giants look outstanding as well. I think they got a nice smooth path to the playoffs.Quarterback Eli manning. Is playing great and I don’t see how that is going to change because he never gets injured.  Wide receiver Odell Beckham jr has got back on track after an emotional and uncharacteristic start to the year.As long as they stay healthy the giants will always be contenders for the super bowl.

3.Seattle Seahawks (7-2-1) even with running back Marshawn Lynch retiring the Seahawks have only loss 2 games.  Its like Quarterback Russell Wilson is just taking over, and so he should because they don’t have an elite running back. But they still have one of the best tight ends in the NFL in Jimmy Graham. And who could forget about the seahawks defense including cornerback Richard Sherman,Earl Thomas III, Cam Challenler and defensive lineman Micheal Thomas.  Without a doubt Seattle is probably the favorite to go to the NFC championship game.

4.Detroit Lions(7-4) well all you can say about the lions is that Quarterback Matthew Stafford is playing like a beast so far this season.  To me it looks like they will make the playoffs but I don’t think they will do something special in the playoffs.

5.Washington Redskins(6-4) the Redskins pretty good.Quarterback Kirk Cousins is throwing the ball well and solid.  It does help though when you have a deep threat wide receiver Desean Jackson.  Jackson is easily one of fastest receivers in the NFL.  They keep playing like this they could really surprise some people.

6.Atlanta Falcons(6-4) Quarterback Matt Ryan is playing outstanding.  Julio Jones isn’t doing too bad either.  This may be the year where the falcons get over that hump and get to at least the NFC wild card game.

Now the teams that I didn’t name still have a slight chance.  I just don’t think they will do it.  Their best chance is to play hard and win the rest of the late regular season games.
