Shark Fest Shenanigans

From food trucks galore to a puppy petting zoo, Shark Fest was packed full to the brim with fun and exciting activities for Sharks and their families. To start off the festivities, Santiago’s own Madrigals performed the national anthem and the school’s alma mater for all those in attendance, followed by performances from Santiago’s Boss Band, Color Guard, Dance, Cheer and Hip Hop. The Fall sports then took the field to give a brief overview of what was to come in their season.

Once all of the events on the football field concluded, the attendees were free to explore all of the booths and activities that were set up for their enjoyment. Along the edges of the field, inflatable castles, obstacles courses, and other activities were blown up for anyone to enjoy! Along with the fun and games, there was a multitude of food selections from the various selections of food trucks stationed in the parking lot. The smell alone of the fragrant eats was enough to drive in the hungry stomachs of a large majority of the events’ attendees.

The fun and games didn’t stop there. Once people made their way up and behind the home bleachers, a puppy petting zoo along with zoo animals could be found! Troy Lankard (11) from ASB stated that “The first thing we wanted to bring back was the petting zoo. That was the most popular attraction last year, so we knew that everyone would love to have it again.”

Overall, Shark Fest 2017 was a success! There was an outstanding amount of smiles and laughter to be seen and heard from the beginning of the event all the way to the end.
