What Happened?
On October 21, 2025, a car crash involving eight vehicles occurred on the 10 Freeway near Ontario, California (east of the 15 Freeway, according to abc7.com). This accident happened at about 1:15 p.m. (according to the California Highway Patrol).
The accident itself was captured on a dashcam attached to a nearby car and turned over to the ABC7.com news station. According to their official website, they explained the dashcam footage showed “a semi-truck slam into the back of an SUV and then plow into multiple other vehicles in the same lane. The semi-truck then veers right and finally comes to a stop after appearing to hit another semi on the side of the road.” It is also known that this dashcam video is being used for evidence and investigation.
This crash was so severe that three people involved in the accident were killed, and four others were injured, and as a result of the crash, multiple lanes were shut down and traffic was at a complete standstill, at a point where the freeway was shut down for several hours.
The semi-truck driver who started the crash is a 21-year-old man from Yuba City, and was arrested for possible DUI charges, as during this crash, he had a suspicion of being under the influence of drugs.
Who Is The Suspect?
The suspect, Jashanpreet Singh, is 21 years old and is an “indian national” according to authorities. This man crashed into three semi-trucks, two pickup trucks, and two cars.
According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Singh entered the US “through the southern border in 2022.” DHS then continues to state, “(He) was RELEASED into the country under the Biden administration.” The California Department of Motor Vehicles later confirmed that Singh held a “commercial driver’s license classification” in the state.
Despite this, on the Wednesday after the crash (October 22, 2025), Singh was officially charged with overwhelming evidence from eyewitnesses and dashcam footage. San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office later stated on October 23, 2025 (Thursday after the crash) that Singh would be “held at no bail” for reasons of “flight risk”. Following this, all charges were said to be “arraigned” on the following Friday (October 24, 2025). And after detainment, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had released an immigrant detainer for Singh (according to DHS).
Public Witness Accounts
An eyewitness to this collision stated that this accident sounded like “an explosion” as the “red semi-truck” collided with many vehicles without stopping. This witness, Jason Camelat, continued to state, “It didn’t stop. It didn’t swerve. It didn’t make any kind of maneuvers. It just went straight in,”
The California Highway Patrol also stated, “traffic on the westbound lanes had slowed down right before the crash, but Singh’s truck did not stop and caused the massive chain reaction crash.”
“The truck rolled and veered to the right into the embankment, and I saw the truck driver jump out because it was on fire.” Camelat also said.
A California Highway Patrol Officer (CHP), Rodrigo Jimenez, stated, “It was one of those crashes where there were car parts everywhere. We had a hazardous material incident. It was a huge scene,” followed by, “This could have been prevented if somebody had been paying attention sober.”
