The wait is finally over for Chainsaw Man fans. On October 24, The Chainsaw Man Movie: Reze Arc finally hits theaters, and you can see it here in Corona at Dos Lagos and the Crossings! Ever since season 1 ended, fans have been waiting a long time to finally see this next part of the story on the big screen.
For people who don’t know, Chainsaw Man is about Denji, a poor teenage boy who lives in poverty and works as a devil hunter to pay off his dad’s extreme debt. He lives with his pet devil, Pochita, and dreams of simply being able to live a normal life with good food and love. But, after Denji is killed, Pochita merges with his body and becomes his new heart, therefore turning him into Chainsaw Man- a human with the chainsaw devil’s powers who can turn his head and arm into chainsaws. After that, Denji is then found by Makima and joins the Public Safety Devil Hunters Association, who fight devils. Devils are monsters that are made from human fears, such as the gun devil and war devil- the stronger the human fear is, the stronger the devil is. After that, he joins a special division and meets Aki and Power. The show is full of action and amazing fights, and it is also very emotional, exploring deep, complex themes.
The Reze Arc follows the story right after the events of season 1. Denji meets a girl named Reze who seems really nice and caring. For the first time, it looks like Denji might find real love. But- Reze’s true identity is revealed as a huge twist, and things turn dark quickly. This arc is romantic, tragic, and full of emotion, playing a significant part in Denji’s character. Since Denji grew up in poverty and has never known what it is like to be loved or cared for, his desires initially seem shallow, with even the ability to eat good food making him entirely happy. He truly is a tragic character, as he continues to be taken advantage of and manipulated time and again. The worst things possible continue to happen to him repeatedly. Yet, he is such a compelling, extremely well-written, and unique one. Denji has to learn the true meaning of what it means to be human, what love is, what it means to care for someone, and what living a good, everyday life really entails. Denji has to learn what love really is and that it is not purely physical. That’s why meeting Reze in this arc really teaches him something- and has a significant impact on his character as a whole. Chainsaw Man, as a whole, is truly a masterpiece, and this movie is where the story really begins to take off.
Fans are especially excited for this arc, as we have waited a long time for this movie’s release. On top of that, the Reze arc is a fan favorite. It’s full of emotion, plot twists, and amazing fight scenes. Reze is also a very popular character, as she is mysterious and strong, beautifully written, and very tragic in her own way. The movie is expected to feature beautiful animation created by Mappa Studios, which truly brings the story to life.
