Imagine it’s the mid-90s. American punk rock is sweeping the mainstream with bands like Green Day and The Offspring dominating the Billboard charts. The British rock craze of the ’70s and ’80s is essentially over. That is, until Oasis’ debut album “Definitely Maybe” was released in 1994. The newly coined “Britpop” genre explodes with the likes of Oasis, Blur, The Verve, and even Radiohead. Though the success seemed to happen overnight, so did the downfall.
It is essential to note that the faces of Oasis are comprised of two brothers, Noel and Liam Gallagher. While riding the train to fame throughout the early 2000s, it was highly speculated that the Gallagher brothers didn’t have the best relationship. Tensions were rising in the band. During the night of August 28, 2009, while playing the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, a fight between the brothers erupted on stage, ultimately leading to the band’s disintegration. After Liam destroyed Noel’s Gibson ES-355, Noel officially called it quits, announcing his resignation a day later. The guitar was subsequently repaired and auctioned off for €300,000 in 2022.
After a long 16-year feud between the brothers, the official reunion was announced. Just a day before the anniversary of the fight, the news broke on August 27, 2024, after both brothers and the official Oasis social media accounts posted a short video with the date “27.08.24” in the band’s logo font. The reunion tour was now confirmed with an official name of the “Oasis Live ‘25 Tour”. The first tour dates were announced for July 2025, to be held in Ireland and the UK. Across the 3-month tour, the band played over 40 shows, with a 23-song setlist that lasted well over 2 hours a night. (SetList.fm) Ending with the legendary anthem “Champagne Supernova” every night made the sets even more memorable. With November 2025 now upon us, Oasis’ tour is coming to an end in under two weeks. Its final show will take place on the 23rd, in São Paulo, Brazil.
While the tour may be coming to a close, fans are speculating that a possible 2026 tour could be on the horizon. Throughout the tour, front man Liam Gallagher has hinted at the full return of Oasis, saying the tour is “only just starting”. Though no new official dates have been revealed, Liam’s hint seems to be a very good possibility that the brothers will make their return. In other news, Adidas recently launched an Oasis merch collab in early summer this year. The clothing line features a wide range of items, including shoes, windbreakers, jerseys, t-shirts, and more. Gibson Guitars has also caught on to the Oasis craze, announcing a trio of signature Oasis guitars.
