The movie Split is a thriller/horror and number two in the box office, bringing in $40 million with a budget of $10 million. This article will contain spoilers. Split has many appropriate pop-ups and several humorous outbursts. Kevin Crumb, the main male actor, is portrayed by James McAvoy. McAvoy also portrayed “Mr. Thomas” in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Kevin “Wendell”  Crumb struggles with Multiple Personality Disorder. Inside his mind, he has 23 different personalities; each personality has a set of characteristics differing hugely, from a fashion designer, to a 9 year old boy. Casey Cooke is a loner, individual, apart from society. Claire and Marcia are best friends, and they invited the whole class for the party. Casey needs a ride home, and conveniently gets into the car with the girls, who have been targeted by Kevin multiple personalities for while, needing to be “purified.” The main personalities are Dennis, who kidnaps the girls and knocks them out, and Patricia, who cares for the girls like a mother. They will be used as a sacrifice to the beast, and after multiple escape attempts, the girls are separated and alone. Casey grows close to Hedwik, the 9-year-old within Kevin’s body, and Dennis and Patricia become the leaders in Kevin’s body. Dr. Fletcher attempts to spread awareness about Kevin’s situation, but many are a spectacle because it sounds extremely childish and made up. She puts too much trust in the harmless and controlled personalities, which eventually leads to her demise. The beast does evolve, killing Marcia and Claire, tearing out their organs and developing supernatural powers from their “sacrifice”. Casey is the only one spared, due to the signs of abuse lining her boy, from cigarette burns to cuts. As she sits there, clutching a shotgun, she is found by a zookeeper on the floor above, showing the audience that they are beneath a zoo. The police officers inform her that her uncle is there to pick her up, at which point in the movie she decides to tell someone about what’s going on. It then cuts to the Beast, transforming to the personalities’ awe of the power they feel with him, and how no damage is done to them.
