Centennial Vs. Santiago Boys Soccer

Centennial+Vs.+Santiago+Boys+Soccer

The Sharks’ Senior Night started off with the same 4-3-3 formation with a different lineup. Mether (12), Castro (12), and Taylor (12) started up top with Roberts (12) playing CAM. Siordia (11) got a rare start at LB along with Plazola (12) at RB and Buck (10) solidifying his spot as keeper.

The Huskies split the Sharks’ defense—who arguably has the best CB duo in the league, down the middle for an easy 1 vs. 1 goal. The Sharks made some changes for the second half, shifting Knorr (11) to CDM, while Citizen (11) went to CF with Taylor (12) going back to CB. The Sharks went with three defenders in the back and were more possessive throughout the 2nd half. Santiago created a number of scoring opportunities, but lacked execution to put the ball in the back of the net. In the middle of the second half, the Huskies created a brilliant scoring chance from a beautiful cross, which led to a thumping shot on target. This forced our keeper to make a great save, but it left the net wide opened for an easy tap-in, which increased the deficit to two-nil.

The Sharks came away with a late consolation goal off a PK from Roberts (12), who blasted the ball down the middle. Too little too late, however, as the Huskies continued their undefeated league season allowing 2 goals thus far. Although Santiago is losing star players Castro and Roberts, they will be solid defensively next season.
