Shark Story: Jordan Blosser

Shark+Story%3A+Jordan+Blosser

A name you don’t know but probably should: Jordan Blosser. Jordan, a current senior, plays water polo and is one of best prospects within the CIF Southern Section. He is versatile, yet plays mostly guard for Santiago Boys Water Polo, and will take his talents across the country to the nation’s capital. Jordan committed and signed to George Washington University. Blosser, a four-year varsity starter, spent his first two years of high school at Arlington High School, where he won league MVP during his sophomore year. This performance helped him land an invitation to the National Team Selection Camp, where he progressed with the team until he cut on the fifth and last trial. He followed that season with a transfer to Santiago High School, where he helped lead the team to a league championship this season and became a top 10 goal scorer in CIF Southern Section. Not only is he a superstar in the pool, but also doesn’t lack focus in the classroom either, having a 4.1 GPA. Jordan was blessed with a “freakish” basketball-like body, being 6’5” with a wingspan of 6’11”.

Q: Why’d you choose to transfer from Arlington?

Blosser: I pretty much had to due to the fact that my mom moved.

Q: Why Santiago and not other high schools in Corona?

Blosser: Santiago is the best within water polo.

Q: How does your height and wingspan help you in water polo?

Blosser: My length helps me get steals and makes my shots more unblockable.

Q: How are you able to score at a consistent rate and high level?

Blosser: I’d say because I play the game so long and being my length with my strength.

Q: How would you describe yourself as a player?

Blosser: Smart and strong.

Q: How do you want other people to describe you?

Blosser: March Madness winner 2016. Haha, all jokes aside, I just want to be remembered as a great teammate.

Q: Which schools did you hold offers from?
Blosser: UCSB, Brown, and George Washington were my top 3.

Q: Those are all prestigious and big-name schools, so why George Washington?

Blosser: The coach was good and a great guy, and the team was really cool. It just felt like the best fit.

Q: What qualities were you looking for in your college?
Blosser: The main thing was a good education. However, it was also important that I would have a team I could get along with and a good coach.

Q: What’s the atmosphere like at George Washington?

Blosser: I’d say it’s pretty modern and chill.

Q: So would you say it fits your personality?
Blosser: Yeah, I’m pretty layed back and relaxed.

Q: You were invited to a national team camp. What’d you learn from that experience?

Blosser: The biggest thing was what it would take to play at the next level, and all the work I have to be willing to put in.

Q: Are you the same person outside of the pool?

Blosser: Yeah, I think I’m still smart, poised, and a good person to be around.

Many athletes face distractions outside of their sport that can affect them permanently or temporarily. Albeit, nothing seemed to ever phase Blosser. Jordan switched school midway through his high school career, going from Division 5 to Division 2, and played for four coaches, yet never stopped scoring at an alarming rate. He will now make his way into the Division 1 ranks at George Washington, where he also plans to major in Sports Management. From our behalf at Shark Attack, we wish Jordan the best of luck and a successful college career.
