The Predicted ‘It’ Movies of 2024

2024 is shaping up to be an exciting year for people waiting for the seemingly forgotten sequels of iconic movies such as Beetlejuice, Mean Girls, and Dune, to name a few. Below are simply a few of the most anticipated films of 2024 that are theater-bound.

Beetlejuice 2

Jenna Ortega in Beetlejuice 2

Set to hit theaters almost 30 years after the original release on September 6, 2024, this long-awaited sequel will star many of the original cast, such as Winona Ryder and Micheal Keaton, reprising their iconic roles as Lydia Deetz and Betelgeuse. Joining them will be Wednesday star Jenna Ortega. With Beetlejuice being a cult classic Halloween movie, this new movie will have much to live up to.

Despicable Me 4

Confirmed back in February 2022, the long-awaited fourth movie of the Despicable Me series is planned to have a theatrical release in early July 2024. As of January 2024, no trailers have been released, and little is known about the plot. When a plot is announced, it will be posted on IMDb.

Argyle (2024)

Matthew Vaughn directed and produced this action comedy set to hit theaters in February. It features many notable stars, such as Dua Lipa, John Cena, and Henry Cavill, to name a few. Following a reclusive novelist whose stories have gotten her into dangerous situations, she struggles to keep the lines between reality and fiction as separate as possible. After its theater debut, the movie can be streamed on Apple TV+.

Mean Girls (2024)

This new version of the Lindsay Lohan cult classic Mean Girls was released in theaters on January 12, 2024. It stars Reneé Rapp as Regina George and Angourie Rice as Cady Heron. This version combines the award-winning Broadway musical and the original movie into one movie-musical. After discovering mixed feelings about the film, it seems that if you already have doubts about the new movie, it’s best to wait until it is on Paramount+

Deadpool 3

The next movie in the Deadpool franchise will be Deadpool 3, featuring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. Despite being planned to release in theaters on July 26, 2024, little is known of the movie’s actual plot, simply that Deadpool and Wolverine will both debut officially as MCU characters for the first time. This movie is the only MCU release this year, and after facing many changes in release dates, July is the latest update. Packed with such star power as Matthew Macfadyen, Emma Corrin, and Stefan Kapičić, the movie will be a hilarious and unforgettable new edition to phase 5 of the MCU.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

This new Ghostbusters movie will star Fuller House star Mckenna Grace; Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard, and Antman himself, Paul Rudd. In this adventure movie, old and new Ghostbusters must work together to prevent their world from reverting to a second ice age.

With such a comedic cast, this movie is bound to be hilarious and riveting and is set to premiere in theaters on March 22, 2024.

Dune: Part 2

Finally, the long-awaited sequel to the adaptation of the 1965 classic science fiction novel Dune is set to premiere in theaters on March 1, 2024. Initially set to be released on November 3, 2022, this sequel is long past its release date. It will continue the story of Paul Atreides as he continues his revenge against his family’s enemies. Almost 3 hours long, this movie will be an adventure full of familiar faces such as Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, actor Austin Butler, and Zendaya.
